Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) at the core of impact investment
At Social Tech Trust, equality, diversity, and inclusion shape how we invest, partner, and build initiatives. Our work in EDI is ongoing and intentional, rooted in action, reflection, and collaboration.
We're committed to building future - and and impact tech investment sector - where people from all backgrounds can thrive. Here's how we're putting that commitment into practice:
Embedding strategy into governance
We've established a board-approved EDI Policy that ensures equality isn't just a value - it's embedded in the structure of how we govern, operate, and make decisions.
Building collective accountability
As signatories to the Diversity Forum Manifesto, we regularly assess and share our progress to stay transparent. Engaging in this process helps us reflect, improve, and connect with others working towards more inclusive investment practices.
Turning principles into practice
Our approach focuses on three key areas:
Building knowledge: Equipping our team with the tools and training to think critically and systemically about equality and equity.
Embedding fairness: Aligning our operational and investment practices with inclusive and equitable approaches.
Using data for action: Analysing diversity data to inform how we engage with ventures, partners, and communities.
Creating tools for wider impact
In collaboration with the Equality Impact Investing Project and Connect Fund, we co-developed the Equality Transformative Tool, a due diligence and diagnostic framework designed to help investors surface and support ventures that are actively tackling inequality. We see this as a living resource, and we're keen to hear how others are using or adapting it to strengthen their own investment processes.
These efforts represent our ongoing journey to embed EDI into every aspect of our work. We know that meaningful change requires openness, shared learning, and collective action. If you're working on similar challenges, we'd love to connect.
